WebJun 12, 2012 · 1,028 Posts. #5 · Jun 11, 2012. nolife is right. when i put on my t-stat the first time it was leaking. i took it out and found out the housing was hitting on the lip. you gotta be real careful when u put one on cuz there's a molding on the housing where the t-stat has to fit exactly. it has to be really warped for it to not seal with silicone. I had corrosion of the block at the tstat caused by dissimilar metal corrosion between the aluminum block and copper "arms" of the tstat. I cleaned the block to clean metal and applied 5200. I inspect it 2x a year and after 3yrs, it's still tightly adhering to the block.
