It is a standard gauge railway which has been steadily expanding since 1978, with plans to expand further still. This route features the current line from Danycoed Halt as far as Abergwili Junction. In 1974–75, the Gwili Railway was founded, and within three years, began operating over a mile long section of the line from Bronwydd Arms, north of Carmarthen.
