WebIt became known as Bury Castle. The castle belonged to the Pilkington family between 1350 to 1489. It passed to the Stanley family by forfeiture to the Crown and from that date the buildings were allowed to fall into decay. So far three maps have been listed, the oldest is the Tithe Map of 1837. The work is ongoing and will be added to over the next few years.
